Attendance Always Matters!
Attendance matters at Sheddingdean Community Primary because every day in school helps your child learn, build friendships, and feel confident. When children attend regularly, they are more likely to keep up with lessons, develop strong routines, and make the most of the support teachers provide. For primary pupils, even small gaps can add up, so working together to prioritise attendance is essential.
We expect children to attend every day the school is open unless they are genuinely unwell. If your child is absent, please contact the school by 9am and provide the reason for absence at either office@sheddingdean.co.uk or phone 01444 246532
We will monitor attendance closely, follow up any patterns or concerns, and work with families to remove barriers to good attendance. Where appropriate, we may involve further support to help improve consistency.
If you’re worried about your child’s attendance, please speak to the school early. We can help with practical solutions, such as supporting routines, discussing anxiety or health concerns, and signposting appropriate help. By choosing regular attendance and communicating with us promptly, you can help your child benefit from every learning opportunity at Sheddingdean Community Primary.
Please contact our pastoral lead, Alice Mcilwraith, if you would like to talk about your child's attendance or have any worries about attendance.
