Parent Survey

December 2019

Thank you to everyone who filled the survey out this year, we had responses from 66 families. We will be using this information to shape how we develop the school over the coming year, and a special thank you to everyone who took the time to give us additional feedback- your comments are extremely helpful.

There were many very positive comments that we have been able to share with staff. We have also used the comments from ‘additional comments’ box to identify actions for this school year.

Overall, we are delighted to say that 83% of parents agree or strongly agree that their child is happy at this school and 90% of respondents say their child feels safe at the school.

  • Parents tell us our areas of strength (ie responses over 80%) are; children are safe at this school, children do well at this school, children are taught well at this school and the school makes parents aware of what their child will be learning during the year. Parents say we provide a good range of subjects for the children and their child can take part in clubs and activities. All other responses are positive (with over 70%+ agreement).
  • 57% of parents say when they have raised concerns with the school they have been dealt with properly, however there is a larger percentage of neutral answers here (32%) which could indicate that many parents have not had any issues.
  • The question relating to bullying is a tricky one, particularly for those parents whose child or children have not been exposed to bullying or have ever had to raise this issue with the school. A large proportion of parents (64%) said this question did not apply to them and 22% said when their child was bullied this was dealt with quickly and effectively.

Numbers are actual figures out of 66 respondents (not percentages.)

If you would like a follow-up from the school in relation to any of the questions answered please write your name and which question you would like to discuss.

Areas that require further investigation and analysis:

  • Review the school’s wider curriculum so that we are supporting personal development more effectively and to look at how we communicate the type of provision we have in place for this.
  • Review our policy on responding to parents concerns to ensure all parties have realistic expectations and are therefore, satisfied with the outcomes.
  • Review communication from the school regarding events and activities including the notice period given.

We would like to thank all the parents that have taken the time to complete this questionnaire and for sharing your views. As a whole staff team we appreciate your feedback, and the recognition of the good work that we do is highly motivating and rewarding for all staff.

Yours sincerely,
Team Sheddingdean
